Apartment Review
Do not live in Colonial Property/Formerly known as
Review Date: 5/9/2009

Do not live in this apartment complex. They chagned their name from Trolley Square to Colonial Properties. I lived here for the past year and I am moving this June. Multiple reason why this aprtment tries to increase your rent in the middle of the year and are never available for answers. 1. they don't turn on the heat until it's below 0 in the winter. And in the summer, they did not turn on the AC when it got up to 95 for a week. They claimed that they had to clean the pipes, but every other apartment has their AC on. I had to say with friends that whole week. 2. They raised the rent in the middle of the year and they are raising it again during my renewal. They tried to say they are including cable in the middle of the year, but it was 10 channels of basic cable and tried to make everyone pay an extra $50. They tried to rip off innocent undergraduate students. Thankfullly, I know my contact laws, and since my contract is a binding 1 yr contract, I am legally bound NOT to pay for increases in the year. So I called them and they replied, on yeah you don't have to pay, we are just asking people nicely if they want to pay, they should. Who wants to pay $50 for basic cable that I never asked for? 3. They said when I signed my lease last year that utilities (electric and gas) are all included, when I had to renew my lease, they not only increase the rent, they also decided to charge me for all utilities. So now my rent really increased by about $150 for the year. 4. Management is never available, and they don't fix anything for you. I have contacted management and maintenence multiple times to fix the tract lighting in my kitchen, and they said they have not gotten the bulbs in yet. It's been 3 months. Overall, if I had know about all this prior to when I moved in, I would have NEVER lived in this apartment, it would have saved me the headache of finding a new apartment this year.
