Apartment Review for Jefferson Trace Apartments - Richmond, VA

I moved from another state (700 miles away) and was unable to come here to see the apt before renting. ALL of my research was done online. I was concerned about finding an affordable yet safe neighborhood. I believe that I found both in Jefferson Trace. It has not been COMPLETELY without it's issues ... there have been 2 shootings since moving here, but both have been domestic issues. I know some people will be turned off by that, but I look at it like it's not some random drive by or gang related activity so I'm ok with it. The complex is a pretty quiet area. There are some nights that you can here loud music outside, but it's not like it goes until the early morning hours and happens everynight. It's usually an occasion warm night and it's not really VERY loud ... it's apt living. There is plenty of well lit parking available. There is a small maintenance crew that goes around and empties the many trash cans in the area and picks up any trash they see laying around. My apt was perfectly clean when I moved in and everything was is in working condition. I have had no issues with anything breaking so I can't really comment on the reponse time and attitude for fixing anything. They conduct periodic unit inspections for various things ... smoke detectors, bug/pests (which I haven't seen), filters etc. I did have some issues communicating with the staff when I first started the process of renting. I would call and if I was transferred to their answering service I would NEVER get a call back. I don't know if that was because they ignored the message or they never got it. It was hit and miss as to calling and actually speaking to the office. That being said, anytime I walked into the office they were very polite and respectful and more than happy to help me out.
